The second oldest craft brewery in Virginia, Starr Hill has over 20 beers on tap and a rotating food truck court in charming downtown Crozet.

Devil's Backbone Brewery
Music, food, and beer. This brewery features 48 taps, plenty of food, and even a distillery.

Bold Rock Cidery
Visit Bold Rock’s HQ at their flagship cidery and tasting barn in Nellysford, overlooking the Rockfish River.

Brewing Tree Beer Company
Great location, vibes and awesome outdoor space make this small, local brewery an excellent stop.

Mudhouse Coffee (Crozet)
Our favorite local coffee house with plenty of space, great coffee and awesome pastries.

Greenhouse Coffee
Another great coffee spot in downtown Crozet when you're also in the mood for better food options.

Grit Coffee (Crozet)
We like their location in Charlottesville, but have not had success with their Crozet location. A good backup option for coffee, if our other suggestions aren't open.

PARKS

Shenandoah National Park
We are less than a 10-minute drive (5.3 miles) from the South Entrance to Shenandoah National Park. Enjoy the views from Skyline Drive and plan your hike with over 500 miles of trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

Blue Ridge Parkway
The North entrance for the Blue Ridge Parkway is just 5 miles from the house. Drive, hike, or ride your bike and enjoy easy access to hikes.

George Washington National Forest
Some of our favorite hikes are in George Washington National Forest, including Humpback Rocks, Three Ridges, and Crabtree Falls. This park has 325 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

Mint Springs Valley Park
A great local park in Crozet, VA, offering hiking trails, fishing and swimming opportunities from Memorial Day weekend to Labor day.

Wintergreen Resort
Wintergreen is your winter sport destination. Skiing, snowboarding, tubing. In the summer, golf, tennis, and mountain biking are big here.

HIKING TRAILS

Rip Rap Trail (Shenandoah National Park)
One of our favorite, round trip trails. Great views, waterfall and a rewarding swimming hole. Around 9 miles

Blackrock Summit (Shenandoah National Park)
Gorgeous 360 views, especially for a sunset hike. Rock scramble to get the good view. Distance options can be as short as 1 mile or paired with other trails for 9+ miles.

Calf Mountain Trail (Shenandoah National Park)
Close to the house, short hike, and expansive 270-degree views.

Turk Mountain Trail (Shenandoah National Park)
2.5 mile out and back, steep climb to get to the view.

Humpback Rocks (George Washington National Forest)
A short 1.7 mile hike out and back. Popular, destination hike. Longer loop route can be done.

Crabtree Falls (George Washington National Forest)
Popular 2.8 mile out and back hike that features amazing waterfall views. Be careful and pay attention to signs, rocks are slippery, and hikers have died going off the trail.

ACTIVITIES

Blue Ridge Tunnel
Built by Claudius Crozet, this tunnel was once the longest railroad tunnel in North America, constructed between 1850 and 1858. It's 4,264 feet long - and you can walk through the entire tunnel. As it's unlit, and dark inside, you'll need headlamps - which we provide at the house.

Monticello Country Ballooning 
Explore the beauty of our mountains from the air in a sunrise or sunset balloon ride.

Visit the downtown mall - a beautiful pedestrian mall in the heart of Charlottesville. Enjoy lots of shopping and dining options.

Wintergreen, VA
If you want to go skiing, tubing, or snowboarding, this is where you go. Great place for golfing in the summer, too.

Waynesboro, VA
Several dining, drinking, and shopping options can be found in Waynesboro.

Staunton, VA
A picturesque mountain town within a 30-minute drive from the house. You can't go wrong spending an afteroon in Staunton.
